Default Best year

I have a 99 5.2 4x4 that I bought cheap with a handfull of known problems. I thought I could fix it up and make it a good truck. But I am losing ground and thinking about trading it in for a newer D with fewer problems. I was wondering if you guys had an opinion on which 1st gen year is best. I need a third row seat and four wheel drive for snowy roads. I'll never take it off road, probably won't tow anything, and I don't like leather.

2003 is typically thought to be the best year, it is the most recent, it was the only year that 4 wheel disk brakes where offered, and in theory at least it should be easier to find low mileage trucks in that year, but since that is only one year, we often say 01+ as they are mostly all the same from that point on

I had a 2003 model and never had a single problem with it in the four years I owned it. Traded it in for a 2007 and the dealer gave me a more than expected trade in value,

2003 SLT+ is what you want most likely a 4.7L or 5.9L.

That might be enough to fill up the fuel line and maybe even get to the runner. I say we find a large hill, have a tow truck drop it off (Less fuel) on top, and push.. Should be able to make $500 off the video
