Check the Speedometer Sensor and the wiring harness connected to it. It sounds electrical... anything else not working?

The same thing happened to me while driving to Lake Tahoe this weekend (@ 70/mph), but the ABS and emergency brake dash lights came on at the same time. My husband said that this is a common problem with Durango's and that it is just the speed sensor. I called around for costs and my local repair shop quoted me $80 for parts/repairs.

Default RE: speedometer

Hi:

I have a similar issue with my 1999 Durango. Only the speedometer fails to register until about 30 mph.
No other ABS light or tach issues. Should I replace the rear speed sensor on the differential?
