Default Alarm system disconnect

I have a '98 Durango. Is there any simple way to disconnect the factory alarm system? Is it linked to the door locks? I'd like to keep the auto lock feature but decommission the alarm for good. Thanks.

Its actually tied into your pcm. When shipped from the factory the system is disabled until it reaches the dealer, the dealer then enables it via PCM for distribution. So the only way to get it disabled would be to bring it to the dealership. To my knowledge your door locks are controlled via the CTM which also is a circuit of the Security (VTTS or w/e they call it). Ask the dealer about it, dont tamper with it. Im sure when disabled the automation(programs)with the locks will still work because mine still do and i have a Compustar auto track system

Exclamation Alarm help

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
lt. green/orange |-|, Located at a the
black plug in the drivers kick panel.

Once Located, splice into this wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the alarm functions entirely.

If you want to use the alarm again all you do is remove the spliced wire
un hook your battery let it sit over night and hook it back up

This info comes from three different alarm system installers in killeen, Tx

Angry 99 durango issue with alarm

I have the same issue with the alarm going off. No key fobs left. Doors do not work rear worked for a while then stopped turning alarm off.

What can I do? Had it at the dealer for 2 days they could not get it to work. I went there and did the ground as mentioned in this post and it started and I took it home. Now just sitting in the driveway.

Now it will not work. turns over but wont start - fuel has been cut off. AUGH!!!

easiest thing to would would be to get them to program you 1 or 2 fobs.

Okay, you seem to have multiple issues. Either with your pcm or ctm..... I disabled my factory alarm so I could install a remote start alarm. I had already trouble shot my pcm and ctm modules. When installing the new alarm I found my lock sensors were why my alarm was faulty.
