Non A/C belt

2000 5.9L. Have a high pitched ringing noise. Replaced the idler pulley since it was wobbling anyway but didn't help. Wanted to put a non A/c belt on that seemed to bypass the A/C compressor but it's an inch or two short, can't get it on there? This must have come up before but couldn't find it in a search?
The noise seems to come from that area but not completely certain it's the A/C compressor. The compressor was only used for a couple hours from new, A/C core leaks bad. Noise started months after the electric plug was disconnected from compressor. I mostly ride bikes in the Summer so A/C wasn't that important but the noise is annoying when I do drive it.
Just thought, should run it for a minute without the belt on to be sure it isn't coming from the starter, torque converter area. :<}

I wont be able to get you a # offhand but i understand your woes, i went through 8 different belts to get the right size.. As all would think a belt from a dango without ac should of worked, but it's far off whats needed.

If your never going to use your ac again you could always rip it out and get a ac bypass pulley for cheap and retain the factory belt, i ripped my ac out and cut the bracket to run the smaller belt before thinking about a bypass pulley

Plus side is withing all the extra ac crap i got plenty of under hood space. i think i have a spare with the #'s on the package (belt wears off the label's so i wouldnt be able to see now) so i'll try to get it to ya by tomorrow.

If you look at the routing diagram on the sticker under the hood it shows the routing without removal of the pulley?

If memory serves me right, you can get a belt from your auto parts store (without A/C) but I thought it ended up being 2 1/2 inches longer needed so put it on before you leave the store.

It could also be the tensioner pulley.

Yeah hydra, but its actually too short.

Im not 100% sure if this was the stock or my back up because i didnt label it but try Dayco poly cog 5070905 from AdvAuto

Thats why I was saying the belt for non A/C equipped doesn't work because it actually needs to be like 2 1/2 inch's longer than what they say it is.

Mid<------- Check the bearing and spring on the belt tensioner pulley. This might be where your sound is coming from.

High pitched ringing noise was the water pump. It eventually started to overheat and leak coolant out the water pump. Also, could see the fan and clutch moving with a little free play. If you watched it, you could see the pump pulley move also (not as easy to see). The steel pipe in the upper right of my pump was almost rusted out. 5.9 2000. They closed all the local Dodge dealers here but found that pipe on the "Help" rack at Auto Zone. Was $14.95.
It's quiet now and overheat is gone. Thanks for the help.
