Default Installing a tank type eng heater

I own a 2003 Durango with rear heat and am installing a tank type eng heater, the coolant is not circulating completly due to a newly discovered heat pump in the rear, is there anyway to get this pump to open and allow full coolant circulation.

Thanks for your help,
James
