Default Replaced brake line on '98 Durango

Hi, I'm a new member. I hope someone can give me some professional help with my issue. My son (who is in the military), blew the rear brake line on his '98 Durnago coming home on a weekend pass and the reservoir went empty; it appears to have overheated because the master cylinder was discolored. I went to Autozone and got a new line and installed. He and I bled the brakes until we got a clean, steady (no air bubbles) stream of fluid. The brake pedal felt solid until the truck was started, then the pedal went to the floor. We went through the bleeding procedure again (LR, RR, RF, LF), but not much if any change. Any helpful advice? It would be much appreciated.

im pretty sure the power brakes need to bled with engine running it doesnt sound like you did that and i know that the brakes get VERY stiff with the engine off and then seem to soften up ALOT when you start the truck again it might be normal depending on how soft they are, you should really be comparing it to where it was before he blew the brake line

there is no reason to bleed the brakes with engine running.

you just need to bleed more. also verify that the rear shoes are adjusted properly.

bleed procedure is passenger rear, driver rear , passenger front, driver front.

If the truck has 4 wheel ABS, it may need to running to bleed along with scanner to bleed the ABS.
