I'm embarrassed to admit that I've had my 99 now for over 3 years and until I replaced the lower ball-joints, I never realized that there are grease fittings on the front of the lower arm.
It wasn't until we started to clean them up before installing the new part that I found them.
I've been told that even if I keep them greased religiously that I shouldn't be surprised if I start having joint trouble after 50,000 miles.
Is this what others have been finding also?
My 99 is a 4x4 with the 5.2 motor.
At least they have lifetime warranties from AutoZone.

if you keep everything greased properly (everything with grease fittings that is) you should NOT have any problems, of course eventually they will go but 50k miles is a very low number of miles to fail at. that being said, whoever told you 50k miles was the life of any of the front suspension (except maybe shocks) needs to be thrown off a bridge for stupidity

The sad thing is that this is just a poor design.
From everything I've read don't expect more than 100,000 miles even from the replacements.
Where my wife's 1999 full size GMC van has over 225,000 miles on it and the front ball joints have never given us any trouble.
in fact the entire suspension, front & rear except for the shocks is all original.
It had 13 miles on it when we purchased it.
Sure we have had some other problems with it but nothing from the suspension.
