Default IAT sensor

I was doing the budget mod of relocating the IAT sensor to the intake tube. And when I pulled the sensor from the intake it was wet. I thought our intakes are dry. The fluid felt alittle greasy kind of smelled like oil. The odd thing is I only loose about 1/2 to 3/4 quart every 3k miles. Now I do have a mystery coolant leak along with an overheating issue. Is the wet sensor normal? Or do I have more issues?

the IAT shouldnt be getting wet period

if you have a 5.2 or 5.9l engine take off the air hat, and look down the throttle body with the butterfly open, if you see oil in there you have a bad plenum gasket, would also explain the amount oil you are using

Sorry should've put that I have a 5.9. I was also afraid that the plenum gasket was bad myself. was kind of hoping something else, maybe easier. Thanks for the confirmation.

The IAC is in the TB on that year and motor so there is absolutly NO way that a plenum leak could get to it. Most likey it's just very fine dust with a settling essence of settled fuel in distilled form.

Personally, I would leave it alone.

the sensor I'm talking about is close to the front and high on the keg. not on the throttle body. I may have called it wrong. '99 5.9 It justy senses the temp of incoming air.
