1998 Durango SLT Won't shift

I have a 1998 Durango SLT. Transmission was not shifting so I decided to adjust the bands in the transmission. I started it it ran drove it half way home and it wouldnt shift had to make it shift manually. Then lost all drive . Now it wont start all together. Any suggestions? Thanks

sounds to me like your transmission is shot, when you adjusted the bands did you have the service manual to do it correctly? did you use a calibrated torque wrench? did you fill it back up with ATF +4 (yours might be old enough to be +3, but 4 is better and you should replace it when you empty it all out)? also while you had the pan off did you change the filter(s)?? and how did they look?

Master Tech is the local expert on transmissions if you PM him he should be able to give you more stuff to check.

I'm going to guess the bands are too tight. Thats why it stop moving.

It did move though .. we drove half way home with it . we changed the filer and the ATF fluid ... they were fine .. not black no filings... Werre going to try and change the sensors and see if this works. we have another transmission but we didnt want to change the whole thing just in case it wasnt this
