This makes a lot of sense.

Now how hard is the adjustment? If I have the dial indicator, is this something you would attempt on your own? Or take it to a shop?

I thought I remember reading that this required a huge hex key, and that the torsion bars actually were the correct size.

It's a PITA!

You have to remove the diff cover. Then remove the C-clips off the axle ends and pull the axles out. Then you have to insert a very long hexagonal (the head on a 36mm nut) end down the axle housing (through the axle bearings and seals) and loosen the drivers side a quarter turn. Move to the passenger side and do the same. Loosen this side 1/2 turn. Then move back to the Drivers side and tighten the nut.

Then you have to use a Dial Indicator and Magnetic block and measure the play (backlash) on each gear ensuring that they are above .003, and you adjust the carrier accordingly. Tighten everything back down and replace the fluid. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...c-lok-lsd.html
