Default 4.7L throttle body cleaning ???

I was going to clean my throttle body but when I got it all apart to clean, I couldn't get the plunger looking sensor out. Not sure of which sensor it is. It has only 1 screw holding it in. I tried to pry it but it seemed to be stuck and I didn't want to force it. TPS came out easily.

And I wasn't sure if this is the MAF sensor

Thanks for the help

Not very experienced with the 4.7 but I would say yes that is the MAF sensor. Also that plunger sensor is your IAC sensor which controls how much air is allowed in the mixture during idle. Be very gentle with this or you will break it and required to replace this. I recommend sticking the tb cleaner straw down the IAC port and give it a blast to try and loosen the gunk. Wiggle it out as gently as you can and it should come out.

That looks like the IAC. Here are instructions for cleaning the 4.7L Throttle Body: http://www.craigcentral.com/durango/tb.pdf

You should do a full reset of the PCM after: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...ine-light.html

whitewidow, I will try that. I got some MAF cleaner at auto zone yesterday that is safe to use on plastic.

hydra, thanks for the link. That's exactly what I needed. You should put that in the sticky thread for the DIY so others with this throttle body style won't be wondering how to do it if they can't figure it out.

Thanks for the help guys

Working on it! I can't access my DIY section without the help of a moderator. PM was sent.

White,I did what you recommended and with a little finesse, the IAC came out and it was black as was the hole it was in. After I got it all put back together and reset the PCM, it ran like new again! I took it for a ride and it seems much more responsive when I gas the throttle!
The IAC before and after

And And the throttle body, before and after

Much better isn't it......LMAO

That thing was really dirty! You'll feel that awesomeness especially off the line like you say. You should also feel a smother idle and see a little better fuel mileage.
