IIRC, there are no cabin air filters for the Durango in any model year.

Sucks but no CAF in either the Durango or the Dakota.

Whatever they don't have or don't know about, they'll say it's an OEM or factory only part.

Eh, it doesn't make the store bad, just that particular guy.

All of the big chain parts stores have a wide variety of people working there. The O'Reillys I used when I lived in Des Moines had one guy who could diagnose problems better than any mechanic in town, but then they also had several kids barely out of high school who could do no more than look up the part you requested on the computer and go find it on the shelf, never knowing or caring what the part actually did.

You can get good advice at parts stores, but you need to know enough yourself to tell the good advice from the bad. Even within the same store you'll find very knowledgeable people and complete idiots working side by side.

yea, thats true, i dont use chain stores for anything, there are two 'mom and pop' type auto stores nearby me that we use for parts and oil comes by the case from bjs (iv been using shell for as long as i can remember), fluids are all brand name and from the place that sells em the cheapest. and until recently oil filters were powerflo from R&S, now my dad has started using supertech filters(my research shows they are made by champion labs, which also makes the mobile one filters and bosh iirc)

You're lucky. The big chains have killed off nearly all of the mom 'n pops around here. You can choose between O'Reilly, Advance, Autozone, and NAPA. Not much else around. There is one mom 'n pop left just two blocks from my house, but as much as I'd like to use them I just can't bring myself to pay their prices (at least double, usually more, on identical parts). Then throw in the 10% discount that I get from O'Reillys through my union and, yeah, that's where I end up getting most of my parts.

I'm a big believer in supporting the local guy, but taking good care of my family is an even higher priority, so for the time being I gotta go where I can get the best deal.
