Question 4 WD to 2 WD???

2002 Durango RT 5.9L 4-Spd. Automatic 46RE Transmission
My question is can I remove the front prop shaft, and both the left and right half shafts and convert this AWD to a 2WD RWD vechile?
The reason I ask this is that I have had the SUV for 6 years and almost 200k and have never been off road once. Also parts are starting to wear out and since I never use the FWD portion can it be disconnected or removed from the drive line?

Thanks for reading and or responding.

Dan

You're ignoring the obvious fix.... take it off-road a bit, easy trails. This is like owning a convertible, never putting the top down, just not right.

Keep in mind, the nut/outer cv joint is what holds the front wheel bearings together.

Also, you would have to drive it in Part-Time 4x4, otherwise all your power would go the front driveshaft. (which isn't there.....)

Winter obviously isn't a problem for you.

You are always using the front section of the driveline since R/Ts are full time 4wd/awd. And your front wheels will fall off if you remove the cv axles.
