Default new to the site with my durango

so im new to the site and new to owning a 2003 durango slt. my durango is a 4.7l with automatic transmission and bright red. im just curious as to what kind of power and mpg gains ill get out of a cold air intake, electric fan conversion, throttle spacer, and exhaust upgrade? also has anyone here done a turbo kit like an sts system for just low boost?

Welcome.

I average 12.5 city and 21 Highway, but those numbers are with the Jeep TCM upgrade. Not sure how that differs in the 03 trim.

I’m more appearance than power (I could just buy a power house if I wanted such).I highly recommend the "Tow mirrors". They seem to follow the body lines of the vehicle better.

Also a street scene grille looks fantastic. If you can find a street scene grille and VHT tint it for a smoked chrome look..wow it'd look sexy on your R/T!

If you're into headlights, an FX-R projector can fit with some cutting and you'll have awesome looking headlights.

To date, That_Guy and myself are the only ones known to have FX-R projectors in our rigs.

And window tint is amazing of course. I have 5%..

03s already have the 5 speed programming in their computer, so his mileage numbers and yours should be about the same.

The intake and exhaust will make a small difference, nothing outstanding, but you should be able to notice it. The electric fan made a big difference in throttle response for me as well as an mpg or so difference on long highway trips. Throttle body spacers are a scam, they're just expensive paperweights. If you do anything to the throttle body get a bored out one from thefastman (his site comes up if you google it).

I've never seen any turbos on the 4.7 (not saying they're aren't any), but have heard of supercharged ones before.

Well the programing may be set at different points. While they programed in the 5th over, there may be some settle differences.

For example mine kicks over at 55mph. The Durango could be set to kick over at 65mph.

Also shift points may be higher or lower as well. But overall those differences really only matter in town. On the highway they really don’t play much roll so the MPG highway should deff be near the same.

And yes, the clutch fan delete is an awesome free mod. I just used the factory electric fan in my Durango.

Agreed with that_guy on his points. I'd buy (did buy) an alternate intake system before I'd blindly swap in a replacement air filter. I also swapped in a full Magnaflow exhaust, manifold to bumper, when I started having some O2 issues/codes. It all helps, but nothing 'holy crap thats fast!' You can just tell the motor is happier. The added a FastMan throttle body why back in '02.
