Default Timing chain slack *video*

Is this a normal amount of timing chain slack? Truck has 180K miles on it. I'm 90% sure the noise in the video is the same as I hear everytime I start it up for first 5 minutes, which I think is quite a while of crappy sounding noise. It already has new lash adjusters so I don't think its those.

Also the chain gets quite a bit tighter and looser as you rotate the engine. Not sure if that means normal wear or maybe something a little warped? Thanks for any help

Well I went ahead and ordered the complete timing set anyway, I realized its not quite as hard to do as I thought earlier. I have already spent so much money on this truck getting it nice and the way I like it, that its worth the $360 investment.

The 4.7 is witchcraft as far as I'm concerned, but my gut feeling is that there's too much slack there.

I don't think it should be able to wiggle at all, but not sure. It definitely won't hurt to replace, that's for sure.

Well I just got the drivers side valve cover off, and the chain is even more loose than in the video. It looks like the plastic guides must be worn down and the tensioner is on the last ratchet. I can actually turn the cam back and forth (with a socket on the sprocket) with all the slack in the chain.

Yeah, that's definitely not good.
