Default 1999 Dodge Durango Plow Setup

I'm looking for a used plow setup for my 1999 Durango 5.9L and I found a complete setup (Boss 7.5ft) on a 2001 Durango R/T. Is everything the same between the 2001 and 1999? I want to make sure this thing will easily bolt up to my SUV without any surprises.

BTW - if anyone knows of any other plow setups for sale that will fit my Durango please let me know (I'm located in Connecticut).

asphaltwarrior1 recently added a plow to his Durango.

You would be better off spending your money on a ram already with a plow... The front end isn't designed to handle a plow and you will be breaking things constantly. Might be a more up front cost way to go but, it will be cheaper in the long run with all the parts you will be breaking on the Durango.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Unfortunately the Durango suffers from terrible rust rot and a slew of other problems so we have retired it. However, it still runs and drives so rather than let it sit (or give it away) I figured I would throw a plow on it just for OUR driveway. I'm not looking to run a commercial plow business. With this new information - are your suggestions still the same?

I've been plowing for years with a 4ft plow on my garden tractor. It seems to me that if that little thing can hold up like it has, that this suv should be able to handle some light plowing as well.

In that situation I don't think you've got much to loose.

Personally, i still would not spend money for a plow setup for a vehicle with a slew of problems but, to each there own...

For the money you plan to spend on a plow, why not get a snowblower?

Here is an article I read the other day about plowing with a Garden Tractor --> http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/n...snow/index.htm

The front ends are different. The 1999 has a steering box with linkage and tie rods, the 2001 is Rack and Pinion. As for bolt up between the two, I don't know if they are compatible, but I assume they could be, of course with modifications....LOL

Are the frames on the 1998-1999 different than the 2000+??? I see plow undercarriages for the 2000+ plows (Boss) but nothing for the 1998-1999. I realize the steering differences but are the frames up in the front different too?
