Default 99 Durango lift kit

Hey ya'll so here's the score. I got me a 99 Durango 4WD. She's only got a couple thousand more miles on the tires and her suspension...isn't good. That being said, I'd like to rebuild the suspension in the form of a 3-4" suspension lift. I'm not familiar with suspension and therefore am not entirely sure what all is required/which kits include what I want. I'd like a kit (shocks included) that's everything I really need but not 35 extra brackets that are "optional". I figured I'd ask here and do further research upon (hopefully) receiving some suggestions. Thanks guys!

You might find more information about suspension kits over in the Dakota section. They tend to do more of that sort of thing. The most common way to get some lift is cranking up the torsion bars some. Usually gives you about 2" of lift. Then you put some taller shackles on the rear springs.

So lets say I buy a new set of shocks (which she needs) I can adjust the torsion bars and get away with just new shocks and taller shackles?

I kept the same shocks when I did my T/S lift.

Right, but mine need replaced. I wanted to replace the OEM suspension with a lift kit. However, if can get 2" out the torsion bars, Ill just replace the shocks at the same time and not necessarily bother getting a whole kit. That being said, I can use OEM spec shocks then?

Yes use the oem length shocks because any lift kit shocks are 3in+ and will be a much stiffer ride since they will be compressed slightly. The only lift kit on the market anymore is the tuff country 5.5" system. Although there is a perfomance accessories 3in body lift you could use with the 2" shackle lift for 5" total. You need 3"+ to fit 33" tires.

yeah i saw the tough country 5.5", not sure if I'm gonna go that tall. Ill look into OEM shocks and taller shackles. Anything else I really need ti mess with during this little adventure?
