I have grease leak on one boot on the end of the rack. Apparently the design is where an 'inner' u-joint style rod end screws into the fixed rack, with the 'outer' end being a normal ball joint type rod end. Is this right? Is a leak onto that boot likely from the inner ball or a bad seal on the rack?

the purpose of the rack seal is to contain the pressurized power steering fluid. Hence a bad rack seals would leak power steering fluid not grease. remove the outer boot clamp and see if fluid drips out.
