Default NV 233 to NV244 swap

Greetings fellow Durango owners. First time posting here.

I have an 01 Durango SLT 4.7 PT4wd, and would like to enjoy the benefit of the 4wd I paid for all of the time.
To that end, I am seeking input to find out what obstacles if any I might encounter by swapping in the factory full time NV244 xfer case.

So far, the only issue I have found isa possible difference in the output yoke for the front driveshaft on the NV244 case. If this is true, maybe getting a front shaft from a deceased D will solve that.

Has anyone here done the swap from full to part time, or part to full and if so tell me how it went.

Recall that the 01 and up use the electronic xfer case which is what I am working with .
If anyone is in need of a good NV233 case I will have one for sale if I get this done.

Thanks in advance and hello from Oxford, Ohio.

Don

Default RE: NV 233 to NV244 swap

Ladies and Gentlemen:
My 01 D is now living proof that the PT4WD to AWD swap is 98% direct bolt in. One minor issue my wrench encountered was a slight difference in the bolt spacing wherea support bracket for the cat convertor attached, so he modified the bracket.
Other than that, time to install was less than 3 hours, and he ended upcharging me $150.
BTW, the 2WD t case switch works fine on the AWD unit, but I do have the properly marked AWD switch to install when the weather is better.

Total cost of the swap was $550 for NV244 and switch, $10 for 2qts. ATF+4, and 150 labor.

To anyone contemplating the swap, I say go for it as long as you are plannng on keeping your D for a good while.
The toughest part for me was finding the T case. I only came across 2 NV244's in the 10 or soT cases I could find.

Are you saying you have 2wd in a NV244???

I ask this because you don't have the right parts as a NV242 to be able to have a 2WD option. The light might say 2WD but the NV244 T-case should be in AWD.
