1997 Intrepid smoking
I have a 1997 3.5l Intrepid sport that is smoking it has a code of p0175 and p0154 . What would cause this.
The smoke does not smell like burning oil. but smell like bad fuel.

Both codes point back to one of the O2 sensors has failed. It is the ones before the cat and is causing the car to run rich which can cause it to smoke like a tar kill (Figure of speach). Try replacing the O2 sensors (the ones closest to the engine) to see if that helps out.
I know that there is a recall on the 1997 Intrepids with the 3.5L engines because the O-Ring around the injectors can cause them to leak and smoke and sometimes catch the car on fire. I have the same engine as you do (Even though my car is a base unit), so I know all about that recall and what all it does. It was already done to my car so I do not worry about it.

Both of the people who responded to you are right. However, the fuel problem is whats causing your 02 sensors to set a code. Thats why you smell fuel at the exhaust. Its not burning properly. We assume you have good spark plugs, and spark plug wires. If you haven't done these in quite some time...I would start there first.
