Default P0743 After tranny removal

Hey there. I recently removed and put my auto tranny for a 95 back in(to do a rear main seal). Anyways I got a code P0743,and it'll give me that code even if I clear it when the engine's off. The shift cable needs to be re-adjusted,as the shifter locks into reverse and 1st OK but kind of glides by drive and 2nd. It won't shift either, only does 1st,reverse,and park. Otherwise car starts and runs fine. Is there possibly a sensor that will automatically set this code off if not connected or did I possibly damage something while taking it out? Or is it just the shift cable not where its supposed to be? Thanks for any input.

Check the torque converter lockup solenoid first. Usually the wiring shorts out. If the solenoid is bad, replacing it is easy.

It's on the valve body. Need to drop the transmission pan.
