If I swap from a dohc to a sohc being just the head swap and keeping the block do I have to change the wiring harness or can I change out the sensors in the head and the computer n call it a day?
I have an Sohc '97 Neon that I have set up to race dirt track. I have all the performance parts I can possibly get my hands on, except for the dohc engine. Would anyone recommend this for a racing engine? I've heard of tons of people using them, but need more input.

The main advantage to the DOHC motor is the ability to individually adjust the intake and exhaust cam advancement with an adjustable cam gear. Also, turbo parts are widely available for the DOHC but not the SOHC. If you are going naturally aspirated, I would keep the SOHC. If you want to turbocharge the car, go with the DOHC.
I've personally gotten a good 270 hp out of a SOHC bored .060 over, stroked, JE pistons, Eagle connecting Rods, ported, shaved head, Crane Cams #16 cam, high compression, Indy intake manifold, 60mm throttle body, MSD ignition, Custom fuel map and spark advance, Underdrive pulley, Lightweight flywheel, Mid length headers to a straight pipe. Keep in mind that this was about 15 years ago. Some of these parts are no longer being made and will be difficult to locate. I also have personal access to a fully equipped automotive machine shop with all sorts of CNC machines.
Hi I would love to get some insight. I bought a 5 speed 2000 dodge neon with a rod thrown through the block. So I found a 2003 automatic dodge neon engine and decided to swap the blocks. (I had to modify the wiring harness) after completing the job it won't start. Can anyone give me some insight on what I did wrong or why it didn't work I'm lost. And honestly don't know a lot about neons. But I really thought it would work. And I would still really like to get it running if possible
I've straddled across this thread through a few searches on google, I was wondering if the swap can work with the 96-99 DOHC head to a 2000+ 2.0l SOHC block? may be a stupid question but just curious.
