If you are going to use Mobil 1, then I would not change it every 1500-2000 miles. That would be just like pouring money down the drain. The 3month/3000 mile oil change is completely outdated. The commercials still advertise this because they want to sell you more OIL!!! The truth is, conventional oil can be changed every 5000 miles and true synthetic oils can be changed every 8000-10000 miles.
ok but it cost money to have a car i understand that you dont have to change your oil.. but for 30 or so bucks why not prolong the life of you engine???

Because you will be draining out perfectly good oil. Are you gonna start changing your plugs every 1000 miles or so as well?

Running Mobil 1 oil and draining at the appropriate times WILL prolong the life of your engine.

because the oil isnt dirty yet. You can do it if you want, but its not going to hurt anything if you go to 5000.

i would be kinda mad if i was droping my oil and it was still clean.

My 98 has almost 230,000 on it and it's had mobile 1 full synthetic or amsoil since the day it was driven off the lot. Changes have been every 5,000 and it's still pulling strong. She's ready for another 230,000

Not recently. The oil has never come out real dirty, but I can imagine after that many miles there would be some crap built up in there.

.

well b4 i change the oil ill check the color ..

but i dont see how waiting till your oil is diry could prolong the life or your engine.. i would think if you kept fresh clean oil in there it would last longer but your saying that leaving the oil in there till its black and dirty will help my engine last longer

Black oil doesn't mean its bad...it means its doing its job and cleaning the internal engine parts. I am not saying to leave it until you don't think it will help you. But after about 8000-10000 miles it would be time to change it based on the detergents and additive packages that are in the oil. Not the COLOR!
