Trust me, weather can suck for wrenching on cars. Once it gets warm you'll be out there again

I'm only allowed one as far as I can tell. It seems strange for a car forum to not allow more pics but this is a big forum. I haven't asked about it but maybe I should.

Am I doing it wrong or am I only allowed room for one pic?

I thought I was on the home stretch. The wife was pumping the lift handle and I was riding and bucking the engine out like Slim Pickins in Dr. Strangelove. Then it happened. I hadn't taken the power steering pump off and line to the reserve tank broke off like a twig.

I feel stupid now, won't everyone share with me. ****

Engine is out and sitting on my garage floor. The bolts that will connect it to the engine stand will be here tomorrow. My Dad suggested tossing a used engine in but I don't have a lot of disposable income to put into this. The crank kit and gaskets should be a little over $200. I can deal wit that. I figure $300 outside for parts and stuff broken. I don't think I could get an engine for that. Still, it would solve the staulling problem I was having with this car when it was running.

idk, I'll think about it some more.

Big problem.
I can't get the harmonic balancer off. I actually broke a piece off using the puller so now it's a harmonic unbalancer. I'm going to call the machine shop and ask the guy if he's familiar with these type of engines. I don't think I can get the crank out without taking the balancer off. Maybe I can. Even if I can get the thing off, it's still broke! ****!

I'm starting to feel like I'm in over my head. I think I'm going to load the engine up and haul it down to the machine shop.

Okay, I got the dampener off. The machine shop charged me $50 and I paid it gladly. The engine is back on the stand and ready for tear down.

Who's the mod for this section?
I'd like to be able to post more pics, as well as change the title of the thread. Rebuild is not an accurate account of what I'm doing. I changed it in the edit menu but it didn't change in the title. I could just post a link to iMazda and keep my work log there updated with pics.

You need to edit your original post to change the thread name. Host pics with photo bucket and just put a link up.
