I'm going to take it to my friends shop in a day or two to do the compression check and look at everything. I was at min today on oil, so I went to the store put a quart in. As soon as I put it in I drove away and already saw smoke, which would suggest the new oil was still going down from the head to the block and leak into the cylinders. When I was driving this morning on the min level of oil even under a bit of WOT there didn't seem to be any smoke so I'm gonna guess for HG. Only thing I'm wondering is, is it possible for a warped head to leak only oil or only coolant in cause thats what confused me is the fact that they both drop down at the HG????

you said the ring are on correct, does that mean u just rebuilt engine? fresh engine will burn a little oil until the rings are broke in.
Could also be valve stem seals mines all torn down right now and from what i see leaked the most oil into the cylinders.

Garrett, I always got an engine I'm building...road racing breaks a lot of parts quickly, harsh on motors and trannys.

ldiablo233, It is a possibility for the head gasket to leak like that, but I would check the valve stems and the oil rings (3rd set of rings - 3 part ring) I had a head gasket leak from one cylinder into the coolant...but it was a pinhole leak, car never smoked, but it caused my coolant to constantly leak out of the overflow cause the excess pressure.

I only rebuilt the block not the head so it is possible that its those. Can I inspect the seals if I pull the VC and if its those then where would I get some new seals??

its really hard to get a close look at seals through the springs. Were the intake runners black when u had the head off?

Yea oil. The compression test should help you troubleshoot whats wrong. If theres low compression between two cyliniders it has a possibility that maby the head gasket cracked and is not sealing it would explain low compression if thats the case. Good luck hope it not too serious.

If I read right, My car is doing similiar.

Whiteish smoke coming out of the tailpipe and I keep having to feed it oil. it has burned about 2 quarts in a little less than a month.

feels as if it has loss of power.
smoke kinda smells like oil
no oil leaks on the ground.

what could it be?

HelpaGirlOut,

Valve seals or head gasket leak in the engine would produce the white smoke. Take a look at your coolant to see if it's muddy looking.
