Default Great MPG!!!!

lol took a trip this weekend 320 miles round trip on one tank of gas... pulled a wonderful 34mpg... pretty much bone stock 97 neon DOHC sport 5spd... really about the only modification i actually have done is i took the lil resonator tube off the stock intake pipe and plugged the hole.. hell even have regular champ plugs in it to... oh running 10w30 Q horsepower oil in it also... I was really impressed i want to get a few things done to the motor like an underdrive pulley, air intake and possibly open the exhaust up a bit, might play with porting the stock intake manifold a bit also... can't wait to see the results from those mods... BTW the milage was figured by filling up at the same pump same grade fuel (i've been running 89 octane) and letting the pump shut off by itself... actual milage was 328 miles and 9.432 gallons...

most of the time driving back and forth to work i get about 28-31 depending how hard i drive it but when i drive keep her at 65mph at max... much faster then that and the milage goes down fast...oh and the 5spd the rpms at 65 are about 2700 which probably helps a lot...also probably helps that the 5spd has 2 extra gears and i try to shift between 2k and 2500...

i get about 23 to 24 with all the mods i got in my sig but all that is very heavy foot driving in the city.

one of these days ill throw the stock dohc comp in and run 89 and see what i get being very light on the throttle. or should i keep the mopar pcm in? whats better for mpg?

with a light foot the mopar pcm shouldn't hurt milage at all..as long as your running at least 91... might even help the milage... hardest thing when you get mods is trying to drive it with a very light foot... its taken me a long time to be able to drive a car for a whole tank of gas with out getting on it lol....

Default 2004 SXT Amazing gas mileage

I wish I could get 24 -25 Milage in my wifes 2004 SXT (automatic). We have had it for a year and if we get over 200 miles on a tank of Gas we are jumping for joy. We work out to get about 15 -17 miles to the gallon on the High way. What is wrong with this car. We are not flooring it either.

well i've improved my best milage numbers... another long trip and same deal with filling up..just drove a lil more carefull... and pulled an amazing 38mpg running a pretty steady 63mph... it was in a 65 zone so running much slower really wasn't a safe thing to do... engine was turning 2500rpm... seems to be the sweet spot for running... 55 is a lil low and have to down shift once and a while when hitting hills... i dunno... i'm planning on finding a sohc 5spd so i can get the high final drive ratio... i think that would help a ton... i'm not using my neon for performace sure i wouldn't mind taking her to the track once in a while but fuel economy is my number one goal... seen as its my daily driver and my truck is my performance vehicle...with what i got in mind for mods i'm expecting to get into the 45mpg range maybe even better... which for a DOHC thats pretty crazy...
