Hello everyone. I have been doing some reading here and now I have some questions. I just picked up my first Neon.....
'99 SOHC, 2 door, 5 speed, 125,000 miles. The PO did head gasket at about 70,000 but it needs some attention. I just ordered some parts...
motor mounts (both), plugs, wires, shift cable bushing kit, oil pan gsk, radiator, radiator hoses, CPS.
It is pulling a code of P1294 (idle) it wont idle below 1100rpm so I am thinking the IAC valve needs replaced????? Did anyone have any luck with just removing, cleaning it and re-installing their's. They are a little expensive but if it needs it then I will order one. Any other info for a new owner? Problem area's? I read about the CPS harness wires and will take a close look at that when I put the new CPS on.
Thanks for the help. Great forum. Jason

I would pull the throttle body and give it a good cleaning. You can clean up the iac at the same time. I have done it and made a nice difference. Try to find out if the water pump, idler pulley and timing belt were changed along with the hg. If not, you will want to get that done.
