I have a 97 dodge neon dohc. Need some help building a horse. No turbos.I have a couple sohc blocks but the pistons are diff. The sohc pistons are flat as the dohc ones are dished for valve clearance. How does this work with the swap? I wanna keep the dohc. Also what about aftermarket cams for this motor? How to set the timing? Will I need the Ecu flashed? Any stoker mods? Give me some options ppl. I heard this site is really helpful.

 

What is this engine being built for? No turbo means headwork (porting and valve job) and aftermarket camshafts. Need to free up as much airflow as possible. Sounds like you should do some research in the project forums non big org. Gonna need to make some decisions non your own.

 

the motor is for a dirt track car. So that is why I know turbos. I know there's plenty of mods that could be done to a neon I just want some options.of course the head job porting and polishing and all that I know ofI'm looking for a little detailed stuff that I can do also like changing out the throttle body bigger injectors etc

 

Wat about using any 2.4 parts? Bottom end? Or boring the 2.0 out? How much is to gain by boring it out? Worth the $$$?

The blocks are not compatible. Cheaper to just get a 2.4L.
