Default RE: DOHC Head on a SOHC Block

well I thank you for the advice! but dont you have to pull the block anyway to swap the pistons from a dohc block to a sohc block.

If you want to swap the pistons, you would...but you don't have to swap the pistons.

Default RE: DOHC Head on a SOHC Block

i was talking to a friend from work and he said that there were some cars that, all you had to do was remove the oilpan. and then remove the piston rods from the crank, then pull the piston down, remove the piston rod itself , then take out the rest of the piston. and then put the new pistons in the same way only reverse order. In such case you wouldnt have to pull the block. but that only works if theres enough of a gap between the crank and the side of the block. Now I personly havent been under my neon yet, I just got it last thursday. so I dont know if this would work in case with the neon. My friend swears up and down it will work. I myself dont think it will. Can you please shine some light on this subject for me.

Thanx

Of course they cant make it that way, it would be 2 easy.
hey could any of you tell me if a gauge cluster with a tachometer will plug in to a 96 5-speed neon that has a guage cluster without a tachometer in it.

is you car auto or manual if it is manual swap trans to the dohc has a better gear ratio,do not use 2 head gaskets you are going to turbo, you will have to swap pcm from same year, yes swap pistons too, i would look in a local junk yard 4 a dohc with a rear or side accident and do a engine and tran swap

i have a mtx, im not swapping the pistons...that would defeat the purpose of lowering my compression....and the sohc trans has a better gear ratio for turbo applications.
