A Fiery End
My 2000 Ram was totaled today by a fire which apparently started under the passenger side dash near or in the blower. Within 10 minutes the entire cabin and engine compartment were fully engulfed in flames. Anything made of plastic, fabric, or rubber were gone... Serpentine belt, fan, fan shroud, heater hoses, etc., Gone!
It started with somewhat of a Wood stove odor and then fine wisps of smoke coming out of the vents, then heavy smoke, fiery molten plastic poured on the carpet, and then the dashboard ignited.
No more Dodge's for me. After 4 years the dasboard cracked and collapsed, at 7 years the tranny went, then Plenum Pan gasket, Hub bearings, every U joint, and numerous other annoying things like belt tensioner, etc.
Time to move on!
