my buddy has an 85ish ram 1st gen with 318 and holley 2bbl. i rebuilt it for him once.

i'm not sure of your question.
have you got a holley and looking for something different ?
or
have you got something different and wanting a holley ?

check the cfm's of each. i'd imaging that a new aftermarket holley or edelbrock would deliver more air/gas = power = lower mpg than the old stock unit.
i'm just sort of guessing here, but you might benefit from an intake swap and a small 4bbl. you could open up the 4bbl for power and ease it around on the 2bbl for mpg. generally a 2bbl flows more fuel and less mpg than the primarys of a small 4bbl.

my 87 D100 and 5th ave both came with 2bbl. Holleys. I think the CFM is around 250.
The 91 W150 don't have a carb., it's a throttle body made by holley unless it has been changed to a carb.

like charlie said 91s are tbi.

i honestly dont think youll see much of a change by swapping carbs on these trucks. bigger carbs alone just move the bottleneck further down the line.
