Always run Premium 93 octane namebrand (BP or Texaco).
Why waste the savings on premium costs? Your not running enough Compression to need that high of octane.

1987 d150. 400 big block, cam (unsure of specs), holley 750 with vacum secondary, mopar ignition, 727 trans with trick shift kit, 321 gears in a 9.25 rear, 2wd, and i get around 10 mpg with average driving. when i'm gettin on it, it's alot worse, lol. my suggestion for better mileage? well, a desire for a less hp engine...lol.

Well my truck sucks on gas. A 1989 4x4 Shortbed,5.2,a727 trans,np241 transfer case and stock 3.21 gears frt and back. The best so far is 10.2 in town really hate to go on the interstate with gas at 3.00 a gallon in NC. But that is what a truck is made to do not for gas mileage.

Wink

Well that sucks, Check out what I did to my engine and mods.
And when the time comes to rebuild your engine add a few of my mods.
By the way, my truck has 95,000 miles on it now and when I did the heads ( Bottom of engine has no rebuild) it had about 75,000 miles on it

I really can not figure out how some of these trucks can get over 15 mpg. I have just replaced the spark plugs, everything is in tip-top condition and all factory and cannot even brake the 15 mpg. I know that these trucks were not the best in the world for fuel mileage. But the truck I have only has 58000 miles and is all stock. It has the 318 tbi,4x4,auto,31x10.5x15 tires,3.23 gears, and no lift.If I could just get it to 15 I wouldn't know what to do. ANY HELP?
