ECU / PCM / Computer part number question
I switched from a 318 to a 360 motor. I need to get a computer module (ECU, PCM, etc.) for the 360. However, the dealerships look this up by your VIN#, and it will tell them the number for the old 318 based on my VIN. There are several different models based on 2WD/4WD, auto/manual, and I don't know what else. The dealers I've talked to don't know which computer is correct, since it's an old part, and since they don't know what the different variables are. How would you go about getting the correct part for the 360 motor?
I have a 2wd, automatic (with overdrive), long-bed D150, A/C, heater, etc.

Try researching it on Amazon. I found some there. Most of them are A1 Cardone brand, But the mopar numbers are still good.

I did get this situation sorted out a few years back. Unfortunately I do not know the exact model/part number I ended up using (my mechanic was the one who found it and the part# is nowhere to be seen). I initially had a CPU for the same engine, but for a van instead of my D150. It was satisfactory, but didn't exactly jive perfectly with the sensors, etc. Electronics, especially on these early fuel injected models, is not my strong suit.
