I've got to replace the starter on my 87 W100 ram. NAPA tells me there's two different starters for 87 318 engines. So I've got to pull the old one before I pick up the new one.

Since it's really cold and windy out there I'm just wondering if there are 2 or 3 bolts on these starters? Is there really a 3rd one way up on top where it's a bear to get at?

Thanks,

Ron

you should almost get the guy at napa to tell you what the difference between the 2 are. there is most likely 1 bolt and 1 nut holding the starter on but sometimes if theres too much crud on the threaded rod it will come out with the nut. usually the nut is on top of the starter and can be a real pain to remove with the big starters.
