Cracked Intake Manifold
I have a two barrel intake on my 318 dodge and Ive been looking for a 4 barrel intake for it. I found a guy who has a stock 4 barrel intake for a 318 and he said hed give it to me for free but it has a crack in it and idk where it is but he does. Is there a way or place to take it and get it fixed at. If it cant; be fixed i wont worry about it but if i can fix it id like to put it on and get a 4 barrel carb.

Most intakes crack around the bolt holes and that means the sealing surface is effected. Welding and resurfacing are usually needed and that more than likely puts the price for the fix higher than an after market manifold unless you know someone that can help you for free. Cast iron must be heated before it can be welded properly and then a controlled cool down to prevent warping and re-cracking.

aftermarket intakes are not super expensive. i have seen a couple on ebay that look fairly good. plus it would be good for whether i keep the old LA engine or upgrade to a magnum engine like what is in my 93.

Thats what I would do. Go aluminum and get one that will run LA or Mag. NOT that chinese pile of crap that keeps popping up on ebay. Claims to be good for magnum engines. If you google the reviews of it, its terrible. Poor sealing surfaces, poor castings, ect... Cant remember the name brand of it, and I cant find one on ebay right now, but beware. I am running a 5.2 Magnum in my '78 out of a 2000. I ordered my intake from an ebayer, but it was a new in box edelbrock. Ill use it again when its time for the 5.9 swap. That is assuming I dont get my hands on a cummins before that.

This gets addressed pretty often so this link may apply. One thing is stressed and that is that stock parts are good enough in most cases unless you spend a lot of money for a complete "built" engine. Personal experience with a 318 2V on a 71 Charger was that an open element air cleaner and dual exhaust with low restriction mufflers does wonders.
