2 barrels would be easier to find and work with. I think a 4 barrel could be nice if it was a style like the Carter Theroquad, tiny primaries and HUGE secondaries.

Plus the 4 barrels just sound awesome.

So this is my plan so far:
Headers (3" collector)
Aluminum intake
New 2 barrel carb
Everything else cleaned and freshened up

With this plan in mind, would a different cam other than the stock cam be advised? Im trying to get a little more hp just because I feel like I really have to get on the gas just to get the truck to move, which could also be just because it runs a little rough now. Not sure....

there is no point sticking an aluminum intake on it especially if you plan on just sticking a 2 barrel carb on it. you are better off to just clean and paint the stock intake. stick a rv/towing cam in it and you would probably get a bit more of what you want. they give great torque off the line and also offer good power up high. i know i wouldn't mind sticking the summit 6900 cam in my truck if i had the money to do it.

Oops I didnt mean the 2 barrel, I meant 4 barrel. I've been looking at the Holley Model 4160:

Gives me a small 4 barrel without too much sacrifice to mileage.

I would get that cam Crazy has a link to, and a Carter or Edlebrock carb, and do an aluminum intake. Stick with a carb in the 390cfm though.

when you work on the carter BBD it has two screws that go throu the top casting all the way down to the bottom casting. be sure to NOT over tighten them that will warp the castings. make them just tight enough.

They take it great, as long as you dont go crazy on CFM's. I have been running a 5.2 Magnum with an Edelbrock 4 bbl for about two years. Only reason I did that though, was because it was alot easier, faster, and cheaper to carb the Magnum that I dropped in my '78. Now that I have time and patience, it is getting replaced with a 5.9 and Fuel Injection.

Well, that's cool. I didn't realize you were running a carbed Magnum. I thought it was an LA 318.

Cool beans dude.

When are you going to get us more pictures though?

I just found this. 280 horses and 340ft/lbs sounds nice.

Here is the parts list, but with different headers

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/cc...iew/make/dodge
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/bi...el/d100-pickup
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/dcc-4876334/overview/
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/dem-1282010

If my offhand math is right, its about $1300 for this setup, but I'd say you could probably sub out some parts to get that down some.
