I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 sport off road..when I put my truck into 4x4, it gets stuck. It's hard to explain but it won't go anywhere. It trys to but it act like there's something holding it back and after forcing it forward or backwards about a foot, it pops really loud like I'm breaking something. Also, its almost impossible to get it to go back into 2 wheel drive. Please let me know if you have any answers I'm desperate to know before winter.

 

Wrong section, but it sounds like you've got some binding or misadjusted linkage.

Go into the 2nd gen Ram section DIY/FAQ forum and look for the 2001 Factory Service Manual thread, you'll find a whole bunch of manuals...and they're FREE! Download the 01 and you'll get almost all you'll need for this truck.
