You might try feeding a wire or cable up through behind the radiator. The part you need to grab is in the dead center of the latch, and needs pulled to the driver's side. Good luck. Small nimble hands, unlike my own, would help.
Thanks - I took a coat hanger wire, bent a small hook on the end, and was able to insert the hook in the grove where the cable end goes and pulled it opened. Put the cable back in it's slot and looped a wire around it so it won't come out again. I also looped a wire around the outer cable shield so it won't slip out either.
