To cure vapor lock mount a electric fuel pump at the rear, and a regulator under the hood.

Don't suppose you'd have any instructions on how to do that?

Thanks Grant but I think it is sussed. I just picked it up and he fixed the timing, replaced a vac hose and reconnected the electric choke.
The problem it seems is the carburetor itself. The primary jet6 is weak and sometimes not there at all and the secondary is not there at all. He thinks the accelerator pump is bad, the part of the diaphragm showing was cracked and dry looking. He suggested I should rebuild the thing.
It drove home ok, there were a couple times it seemed like it wanted to quit but kept going. I haven't tried to put a load on it yet. I need to find a good rebuild kit as it seems the last one I did was after market and I figure that is why the accelerator pump has failed.

Grant, Mikes doesn't have anything for my carb. I ordered one from a local shop. I have a gallon dip tank can from Chemtool and I am hoping this carb build fixes the problem.
I found my Thermostat was the wrong one and I changed it I also changed the cap and rotor as the inside of the cap the pillars were getting eaten. The rotor moved pretty good and the shaft was solid when the mechanic showed me. No OEM but I got new ones, the new rotor felt normal to me.

Got the kit done. It runs pretty good but the exhaust now has a hole in it and the clutch seems to be burning and slipping! I'll adjust the clutch tomorrow and get under to see if I can find the hole.

I went to get a 1/2 yard of gravel to see if it was fixed, it isn't. It started lurching and losing the desire to go in less than a 1/4 mile after getting the load. It would got at about 35-40mph but if I tried to go faster it went out on me. That was friday.
Yesterday I put in a straight line from the pump to the carb eliminating the fuel filter. [EDIT I had added this filter it is not OEM .End Edit] That was a bear to tighten the clamps which need to be REAL tight as it was pushing gas out around the hose. I drove it round the block no more than 30 but when I hit it it felt like it wanted to act crippled. I think this means I need to follow the suggestion xjarhead69 gave me to change over to an electric pump in the rear and a regulator under the hood.
I was thinking about new fuel lines earlier in case it was sucking air as some mechanics suggested, but every time I search 'fuel lines' I get gas tanks!
Research begins.
I took the muffler off and welded it.
