Default engine problems?

so my rings are shot in my 400 big block, i dont know what to do either rebuild the 400 even tho it is freshly rebuilt and we dont know why the rings are shot but when its leaking oil out of the breathers, the exhaust manifold bolts and puffing bit of blue and gas in the oil pretty obvious rings are shot

someone has a 440 that been sitting in his yard for 3 years he will give me for free out of motor home,

there is also a guy selling a freshly rebuilt 360 with tranny for $1000 (but its set up for a 2brrl and needs headers/exhaustmanifolds)

OR rebuild my engine or the 440

if i rebuild the 400 any cheap ways to get more ponies or should i take a chance with the 440

Sounds like someone lined up the gaps in the rings.
