Have a 1990 ram half ton with a 318, 3 speed automatic. I want to add some significant horsepower. I want to swap the rear end for better gear ratio. Rear end ideas? Engine performance ideas? Anything would awesome to hear!
I've never had a fuel injected 1st gen Ram, so I may be mistaken here, but to build real power I believe you'd have to ditch the TBI. It can't support power mods. At least you have decent heads on it already, so a good exhaust system, a 340 spec cam, a good intake and 4bbl carb'll get you a fun package.
I am building a 1990 dodge d150. I want to improve the performance some, just an above average street truck. Planning on using a 318 with a carb, mild cam, headers and new intake. Sadly I know very little about all of the above. Some ideas on what to use would be fantastic! also what would be better an LA or Magnum block/heads? Please keep in mind that Im not looking to dump a ton of money into this. Thanks!

Reason: Left parts out
Magnum heads would require a special intake to do a carb. 318's respond well to a 340 spec cam, good intake (an Edelbrock is a good choice) and a decent 4 bbl (I recently got a 600 cfm Summit a Racing carb, an awesome piece!) headers and a dual exhaust and your in good times country
