I want to explore adding air conditioning to my 1993 D150 pickup.I am an HVAC tech and know what I need for the underhood equipment (compressor,condenser,hoses,relays,ect). I need to know what I have to find to install under the dash and what years will fit in my '93. I want a factory setup. I assume I will have to change out the airbox and all heater controls. Would I need a different ECM? Thanks for your help!

If you can find a complete set up in a junk yard that would be the best way to go. I believe the box is different(shape/size/mounting) than the non ac ones(it was in the earlier year trucks). The cut outs in the fire wall are different to so take some measurements. Always replace the receiver/drier anytime the system is opened. Also the dash in the ac trucks have the vent holes where the non ac ones don't. You will have to make the cut outs your self or get a complete ac dash.

 

Thanks! Do you know what year dashes would be the same? There is quite a bit of stuff that is specific to the '92-'93 trucks....I am not sure if earlier stuff would work.

 

Not sure about the early 90's trucks but if it doesn't come with ac it will not have the dash vents.
