Default Please help, running bad

Can anyone help me?

I took off all of the plug wires last night and couldn't get them back right. Went out today and found the #1 cyl. on the dist. cap and it fired up.

Went to hunt a vacuum connection that broke and left it idling while I went in a couple of places. When I came out, it was running rough and smoking bad, a dusty dirty smoke. I headed back to the house and it just did make it there.

It ran really bad and smoked awful.

Checked the wires and it still ran bad. Took it to the mechanic I take it to and he pulled the plug wires one at a time.

The passenger side did ok but the drivers was not hitting, had spark but it just wasn't hitting. You can smell gas and the pressure seems good it has MPFI.

What would cause this?

Run a compression test on all the cylinders and see what kind of #'s you get.
