Default 1984 Dodge Prospector, 318 V-8

We just purchased a 1984 Dodge Prospector with 56K miles. It has been sitting up mostly for the last 2 years, prior to us purchasing it. We have driven it about 300 miles so far. No leaks or anything, but we are wanting to change the oil, filter and any gaskets that might need replacing.

SUGGESTIONS???

Thanks,

Mary

Personally, I'd change the fluids & filters, grease the wheel bearings and grease points (tie rods, ball joints, universals, etc), and call it good, if nothing's leaking. If the seals aren't leaking, they're obviously fine, and there's really no need to replace them. If they start leaking, replace them then.
Unless, of course, you're operating with an abundance of both spare time and spare money and just want to do it as a preventative measure. In that case go for it, haha!

When a vehicle sits, the seals can dry out and shrink/crack. If that has happened, you know as soon as you start using the vehicle again, because leaks will show up pretty much immediately. If you haven't developed any leaks after 300 miles, the seals would appear to still be good.

Valve cover and the front and back intake manifold gaskets may need replacing especially if they are cork. Cork gaskets suck and they turn hard as a rock. Might look at the hoses and check for dry rot and cracking.
