Oh okay I see what you mean crazzywolfie. I'll give the oil trick a try before I attempt to turn it over. The truck sat with the hood open and the air cleaner off for who knows how long. The carb is gonna need a thorough cleaning. I've never worked on a carbed vehicle this big, (all my carb experience comes from motorcycles) is there anything special I need to know about the set up on this truck?

I may try to drag this thing home this weekend. I found that the left rear wheel is missing so it's gonna be a little harder than I thought.

I'd like to flush the tank but I'm unsure of the best way to do this. Any tips?
When I pull it out of there I want to power wash EVERYTHING before I even start working on it. I'm gonna mix some degreaser with the water too so I have a somewhat clean engine to work on. I'm also gonna power wash the interior. Is there anything important I need to avoid spraying directly?

all you have to do is drop the gas tank and remove the sending unit empty all the old gas and i forget what to rince it with but i think it is Naptha or Varsol.
rince with any solvent, empty it, and rince it agian with a bit of clean gas to help carry the solvent out. if youve got the sending unit out, i dont think power washing will hurt it, just be sure that all the water is out

It will prolly have Drum brakes in the back, so they will be seized. Itll need to be pulled out for sure. Take the carb off and have it rebuilt, or clean all the crap out of it.
Pull the drain plug, it will slop out like pudding. It might be better to pull the pan and clean it out. If not the oil pump will get clogged and fail.. Yada Yada..
This wont be easy, but itll be fun!!!

2001 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2L, Its my DD. I am 16 and I love my truck. Currently has 66,000 original miles. Name is Ryan from Central Texas.
Me and a bud finally got around to working on the truck. We went to the local junk yard and pulled a 8 lug wheel off an old ford transport van, and to our surprise, it fit perfectly. We chained the truck up to a Case 970 and literally dragged it out of the barn. The front right tire came off the bead and because the rear left axle end was sitting in water for 10 years the drum was seized (like you guys warned). A few minutes with sledge hammer fixed that problem haha.
After inspecting the truck more thoroughly in the daylight we realized it needs quite a bit more work than we originally thought (of course)
-needs a lot of brake work
-ignition and plow wiring need to be redone
-needs new fuel lines
-new or fixed floor boards, rocker panels, and door bottoms
-new seat
This is gonna be fun!
I was also wrong about what model the truck is. I looked at the vin tags and they say 1975 Dodge W20. I can't find any info about W20s, what is a W20 exactly? 3/4ton? 1ton? Can anyone point me to a website with more info about these trucks? Thanks.
