Exhaust System
My dad and I decided to do the exhaust system along with the transmission replacement. However, I'm still stuck on a fence. I want the truck to have a lot of low-end torque and off the line power, but I also want it to be a little high strung. I want a great combination of off the line power and a high top speed. Here's what I know I want to do:
-Long Tube Headers (Emissions Legal)
-High-Flow Racing Cats
-Cherry Bomb Glasspack Mufflers
-Racing Cutouts Before Cats
-2.5" To 3" Pipes, Preferrably 3"
My question is this, which is better, dual exhaust or single exhaust?

For a mild 318 such as yours I'd recommend 1 5/8" primary, 2 1/2" collector, 2 1/2 into 3" Y and a 3 inch single out the back. That's what I'm running on my 360, and what my buddy is running on his 318 and it seems to work pretty well. We've both got Flowmaster 30 series mufflers and I've had good luck with Flowmaster, so I'll probably stick with it. I've got 40 series in my 5.0, and I had a 70 series big block in my grand cherokee.
Yes, do the high flow cats if you need them, and do the long tube headers. I'm not a fan of cherry bombs, they rust out and are just a bit too loud for my taste on a daily driver.
2.25" if you've got to go dual, 2.5 max. 3" dual is just too much, you'll hurt your low end. Put an H or X pipe in there if you're doing dual.
Both my truck and my buddy's truck put about 180hp and 250 lb-ft to the ground, mine through a727 and 35" tires, his through a 4-speed and 32" tires. We're both running holley 600 carbs, edelbrock manifolds, I've got a performer + cam and he's got something similar from Crane, being the biggest difference between your setup and ours. MSD coil, mopar orange ecm and good distributor.

RE: Exhaust System
Sweet. I'm putting a TCI Sizzler on my Ram to replace the stock A-904. Where can I find a good, cheap set of headers with the smog pump ports? I want those so I can put the pump on when I get it inspected and take it off between inspections.

That I don't know. I don't have inspections, and I don't have smog pumps anymore. They siezed up on me so I got rid of them. I almost passed emissions with the belt removed back when they were working.

where did you find the TCI Sizzler for a 904 replacemnt? I know they have the replacement a747 but I cant find a a904 or a999. I dont want to replace the torque convertor, tailshaft, and possibly lengthen/shorten the driveshaft. Thats why I am looking for a 904 or 999. I am also upgrading the exhaust, but with just dual mufflers(40 series flowmasters). http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...0559&langId=-1

TCI Sizzler Transmission Part # TCI-111338
Even though Summit Racing says it will not work with cars made after 1980, TCI said that it will work with the 1st gen. Rams.

RE: Exhaust System
I ordered my TCI Sizzler last night, but it's backordered and won't get here until April.[:@]
Since this is a $1500 project, the exhaust system is going to have to wait. I'm giong to be paying off the money that my Dad loaned me when I start college. Ugh...
