Default What's with the radio?

I am surprised that the radio is producing static. I live in Toronto, just 8 miles from the tallest radio tower in the western world, so signal strength isn't a problem, but my stations have a little bit of static all the time.

Well, the subject line asked what's with the radio.

It's OEM generic. Presumably I should I expect a quality signal under normal conditions.

Seems to be staticky on most stations but I'll need to test more to sort that out.

I guess I could take it back to the dealer and ask them.

Anything I might be able to do to narrow down what the problem might be?

BTW, I'm new to the Avenger and new to the forum and - while scientifically inclined, I'm not all that mechanically inclined - so I might ask dumb questions.

I just noticed another problem. Several times it has spontaneously switched stations.
It was on 97.3 then just jumped to 97.7.

I am pretty sure it's doing this because it's having trouble keeping the signal. Radios are smart enough the autotune to a frequency if they find it.

Hello DaveC426913,

If your radio is switching frequencies on you, you can also report it to https://consumercomplaints.fcc.gov/hc/en-us under radio.

As for the static you probably will need a diagnoses at an FCA Dealership.

Thanks

Lyne
