Dodge Infinity stereo system??
Ibought a 2003 1500 in july and it included the Infinity option. First off letme say this in case you were wondering: THIS SYSTEM SUCKS!!!!! for the $750 (retail, $640 invoice) that they took from me for this system this has to be THE most pathetic stereo system ever offered by a manufacturer as an "high end option". Ididlet both the dealer and Dodge knowexactly how I felt and they were both "really sorryyou feel this way, too bad.". If you would like to know more about my experience with this system let me know. However, the real reason for this post is to ask a question about the deck installed. It has a 200W amplifier build in (200w / 7 speakers, you do the math). Does anyone know if this deck has outputs for adding an amp and bypassing the "built in" amp? I don't want to chang out the deck because I actually like the look, plus the steering wheel controls are nice. Can any one help me out with this? Thanks.

for the 640 bucks, id throw it away all together and get a new head unit that you can add amps too, assuming you cant with the one thats there. but as a rule, if you arent happy with the stereo then get one you are happy with. alot of people think i take it too seriously, but for cryin out loud you use it like, twice a day at LEAST!

save a couple bucks and get a new alpine V-drive head unit. the v-drive power pushes alot more power than stock systems, they look great, and sound amazing

funny though, my mom had a 1999 concorde with the infinity system and it sounded pretty damn spiffy! on the other hand its almost unreal how good the sound systems are in the 2003 cadillac CTS'. my mom got one a while back and it has a built in 10" sub in the rear deck :O sounds hotter than hell!

No it doesnt have an rca out in the back but if you want to keep th efactory deck all you gotta do is go to your local stereo shop and pick up whats called a line level inverter. this will convert your speaker out wires to an rca output there by allowing you to add a seperate amp. the only problem with this is your going to eventually have to replace thosePOS speakers you got cause factory speaks dont like to hold up very long on an aftermarket amp.you might want to consider rewiring all the speaks to bypass the factory amp. its alot of work but well worth it in the end.or if you know where the amp is unplug it and just figure out what wires go to what speakers. you can do this with a 9 voltbat and some speaker wire. no matter what bypassing a factory amp isnt awalk in the park but its not that hard either.let me know if you got questions!

yeah rewiring is a pain in the a$$. I rewired my 03' Ram Q/C with a Pioneer 940 as my Head unit running toa ampto my Audiobaun mids and tweeters in the doors, andanother ampto my pos rockford foscrap 10" punch z. saving money to upgrade, it was spear stuff laying around, so I made use of it.

Hey Stereogod, Thanks for you help. Unfortunatley, the amp is built into the deck itself so I can't really unhook it from the system. The speakers I have are not just factory POS speakers. They're Infinity reference speakers so they should hold up to with a good (not high output, but good) amp. I'll check into the line level inverter. Thanks for the tip. I am still just mad as can be that Dodge STILL screws people by convincing them that this system is a top of the line stereo system then charging them $750.

Most automakers pull this "top of the line" crap. Thats another reason I like the Razor concept car, no radio so theres no BS charges. This way you can put in your own system. Just think how much money you could afford to spend on a stereo system without having to pay for any over priced factory stereo.

I have no issues with the radio in the Jeep (02 Grand Cherokee, 4.7l) We didn't pay any extra for it and low and behold, it has an Infinity amp under the rear seat. Doesn't say anything on the faceplate. Several people asked if I had a sub in it. Sounds great to me and I have $1000 into the lebaron in sound and a new 7.1 HK/Polk system around my tv - a reference that I know what good sound is like. I must have gotten a ringer

What model of Inifintiy speakers come with the Infinity
system? I planned on upgrading my speakers. The first
stage was going to be adding Infinity Reference 6002si's in the
doors. I want to make sure the Infinity stuff you get from the
dealer is not the same as what I am about to buy.
