I would check the timing. Mine was so far off that it did what you describe. Now that the timing is in check, it has already spun unintentionally a few times on gravel and haven't tried on pavement and I don't plan on it. I also have 31's and I'd like to keep as much life in them as possible. The SRT-4 is my fun toy.

Not only can I not spin tires even in the rain... the truck is scary to try to pull into traffic with. I know the intake I have doesn't help. This is why I have a cammed 318 ready to drop in with some nice longtube headers!

Mine runs pretty good. It's no big block, though. My only fear about pulling out in front of traffic is frying the one rear tire that spins. And I run the a/c 90% of the time, which takes a couple horses out of it too. My dad has some old LA heads off a '69 318 along with intake, manifolds, etc. that I make look into doctoring up a little and getting rid of tbi. But for now, it's 100% stock and runs too good to want to mess with.
