Thermostat Problems???

I've seen that problem when the cooling system is filled with just plain water, without antifreeze. And once with antifreeze used, but the water used was from an alkali spring in the desert. Both the water pump and the radiator failed on that one within another year or so, and the scale buildup in the block was remarkable.
I've always bought my thermostats from NAPA and haven't had any problems with premature failure.

+1 on the NAPA thermostat, when you mix your antifreeze make sure to use distilled water and you will eliminate any of the mineral deposits from building up in your cooling system. It might not hurt to flush your cooling system with a descaler (buy this at NAPA to and follow the directions) prior to refilling the system.

I agree there is something going on, but what I don't know.... Replaced the "plastic" radiator and water pump last year, have plenty of anti-freeze on-board. But this is a yearly thing.... This 'stat is a one of the Super stants.... Going to try a fail-safe next...
Will use the descaler and flush the system just to be sure....
Thanks for the feedback
